Kombucheers Brewery is a small brewery crafting kombucha with love in the beautiful town of Canmore, Alberta. And Armstrong, British Columbia.
Years ago, Helena Artmann, the master brewer of our little brewery and the founder of Kombucheers, got her Raw Food Chef certification from Pachavega Living Foods Education. Her son, Ian, participated in parts of the course. But working with food was never in the agenda, until Helena started brewing her own kombucha at home.
It was love at first bubbles!
The second fermentation got her creativity flowing and the result, even if not always as good as it sounds, was fascinating. Add to this all the technicality involving pH measurements, titrable acidity, temperatures, right tea and sugar or honey for the Jun, and even the alcohol level measurement and Helena was hooked!
Then the stars aligned for a commercial kitchen to become available.
The rest will be history soon…
Part of this history is starting to shape as the next phase of Kombucheers developed into adding a business partner to the mix. Lisa Rippee joined us in November 2019, when Ian and Helena decided to move to Vernon, BC, for personal reasons. Leave Kombucheers behind or close it was not an option, and Lisa embrace the life in the brewery like it has always been her life!
So we decided to open a second location in the North Okanagan area, focusing on farmers market and local stores, while Canmore will be focusing in wholesales and some presence at the local markets as well.
Lisa Rippee moved to Canmore in 2017 with her husband, two sons, and their two dogs. A graphic designer since 2010, she was intrigued by Helena’s passion for all things Kombucha and decided to jump in with both feet when Helena decided to move Vernon. Learning a great deal in a short amount of time, she was ecstatic to find that Helena was willing to bring her on as a partner to her budding enterprise.
